Dance for PD®

Dance for Parkinson’s®

Dance for PD® invites everyone to explore the joys and benefits of dance, music and the creative spirit.

Our classes allow participants to sit, stand supported at the back of a chair, or move around freely in the room. They use dance styles from every culture and every century, and they are fun. If you have never danced before, these classes will surprise and delight you. If you are a veteran dancer, you will be amazed as you look at movement all over again with a beginner’s mind.

Judith has been a certified Dance for PD® teacher since 2017. She is thrilled to be offering these classes with support from a Dance for PD® Bowen Launch grant.

When you are dancing, you will notice:

  • Your breathing is easier and freer

  • You have more self-confidence

  • You feel more graceful

  • You notice the rhythm in everyday life, like what it takes to cross the street or get on an escalator

  • You get to move with others, whether online or in-person

  • When you sing and dance at the same time, you have better coordination

  • You don’t need sit-ups and crunches to boost your level of fitness

The medical community and evidence-based research acknowledges the potential benefits of dance for people with restricted movement, movement disorders or chronic illness on life, healthy, body-feeling and mobility, and on activities of daily living.
